03. Isla Verde Exterior: Port Development for Today & Tomorrow
Isla Verde Exterior constitutes the best achievement in the development of the Port Bay of Algeciras. It occupies 122-hectare surface area and a 2,058-metre quayline with draughts between 17.5 and 18.5 metres. Added to this is a 2 km-plus detached breakwater that ensures great flexibility for megaship operations.
The container terminal on Isla Verde exterior at the Port of Algeciras Bay is run by TTI-A Total Terminal International Algeciras (TTI-A), that in its phase A with a surface area of 35 hectares, operates a 850-metre-long quay (650 metres under concession and 200 under authorisation)
The development of phase B, with a surface area similar to that of phase B, will provide up to 1330 metres of keyline in Isla Verde exterior, so that the total capacity of the container terminals of the port of Algeciras would reach 7 million TEUs.
Isla Verde Exterior also houses the EVOS Algeciras SAU hydrocarbon and other liquid bulk storage terminal, with a capacity to store 400,000 m3. To which the Spanish petroleum company -Cepsa- and Exolum have to be added.
